Electrostatic painting · Metal refinished in place
Electrostatic painting refinishes metal where it stands. The paint is charged as it is sprayed and the grounded metal pulls it in, wrapping edges and louvers. MTD uses it to refinish lockers, door frames, railings, overhead metal and play structures without removing them.

MTD refinishes metal lockers, doors and frames, railings, ductwork and conduit, and playground structures in place, with plastic containment around the work. It works on metal only, so it suits schools, auditoriums, corridors and common areas where replacing the metal would be costly or disruptive.
What we cover
If it is metal and it is sound, it can usually be refinished where it stands.
Rusted, scuffed lockers prepped and refinished in place instead of torn out.
Hollow metal doors and frames refinished without taking them off their hinges.
Stair, stage and walkway railings refinished on site.
Ductwork, conduit and wall-mounted metal refinished inside sealed containment.
Climbers, ladders, arches, posts and bars refinished in bright, durable color.
Floors, fixtures and equipment wrapped in plastic so the rest of the building stays clean.

The finish is only as good as the surface under it.
Each surface is cleaned, sanded and masked before any paint is sprayed. Loose and peeling paint comes off, rust is dealt with, and everything that is not getting painted is covered.

The paint is attracted to the metal, so it wraps edges and louvers that a brush or roller misses.
The spray gun charges the paint and the metal is grounded, so the coating is pulled onto the surface and around edges. It works on metal only, not wood, drywall, masonry or plastic. Deep inside corners can still need extra attention by hand.

Work areas are sealed off from the rest of the building.
Corridors and rooms are wrapped in plastic containment, floors and fixtures are covered, and the work area is ventilated. Work is done in unoccupied areas, and older buildings should be checked for lead paint before work starts.

Refinishing gives sound metal a new finish without the cost and downtime of replacement.
It restores the finish. It does not fix broken hinges, bent doors or missing hardware, so we flag those during the walkthrough so you can plan for them. Coatings are dry to the touch quickly but take days to fully cure, and we give you a return-to-use time for the coating used on your job.
